Coarse-grid selection using simulated annealing

چکیده

Multilevel techniques are efficient approaches for solving the large linear systems that arise from discretized partial differential equations and other problems. While geometric multigrid requires detailed knowledge about underlying problem its discretization, algebraic aims to be less intrusive, requiring origin of system. A key step in is choice coarse/fine partitioning, aiming balance convergence iteration with cost. In work by MacLachlan Saad (2007), a constrained combinatorial optimization used define “best” coarse grid within setting two-level reduction-based method shown NP-complete. Here, we develop new coarsening algorithm based on simulated annealing approximate solutions this problem, which yields improved results over greedy developed previously. We present numerical test problems both structured unstructured meshes, demonstrating ability exploit structure if it available.

Ensemble Selection using Simulated Annealing Walking

Pruning an ensemble of classifiers is one of the most significant and effective issues in ensemble method topic. This paper presents a new ensemble pruning method inspired by upward stochastic walking idea. Our proposed method incorporates simulated annealing algorithm and forward selection method for selecting models through the ensemble according to the probabilistic steps. Experimental compa...

Parallel coarse-grid selection

Algebraic multigrid (AMG) is a powerful linear solver with attractive parallel properties. A parallel AMG method depends on efficient, parallel implementations of the coarse-grid selection algorithms and the restriction and prolongation operator construction algorithms. In the effort to effectively and quickly select the coarse grid, a number of parallel coarsening algorithms have been develope...

Experiments with Scheduling Using Simulated Annealing in a Grid Environment

Generating high quality schedules for distributed applications on a Computational Grid is a challenging problem. Some experiments using Simulated Annealing as a scheduling mechanism for a ScaLAPACK LU solver on a Grid are described. The Simulated Annealing scheduler is compared to a Ad-Hoc Greedy scheduler used in earlier experiments. The Simulated Annealing scheduler exposes some assumptions b...

Beyond Simulated Annealing in Grid Scheduling

In Grid Environment the number of resources and tasks to be scheduled is usually variable and dynamic in nature. This characteristic emphasizes the scheduling approach as a complex optimization problem. Scheduling is a key issue which must be solved in grid computing study and a better scheduling scheme can greatly improve the efficiency. The objective of this paper is to explore and investigate...

Unsupervised Gene Selection and Clustering Using Simulated Annealing

When applied to genomic data, many popular unsupervised explorative data analysis tools based on clustering algorithms often fail due to their small cardinality and high dimensionality. In this paper we propose a wrapper method for gene selection based on simulated annealing and unsupervised clustering. The proposed approach, even if computationally intensive, permits to select the most relevan...
